The University of Rochester's art museum featuring over 12,000 works spanning 5,000 years of world art history.
The Memorial Art Gallery (MAG) is Rochester's premier fine art museum and one of the most comprehensive university art museums in the nation. Part of the University of Rochester, MAG's permanent collection encompasses over 12,000 objects spanning 5,000 years of art history — from ancient Egyptian artifacts and medieval European paintings to contemporary American works and Japanese woodblock prints.
Housed in a beautiful Beaux-Arts building at 500 University Avenue with a stunning modern addition, the gallery offers an intimate yet world-class museum experience. Highlights include works by Monet, Cézanne, Homer, and Cassatt, as well as an exceptional collection of American folk art and a beloved medieval sculpture court. The Centennial Sculpture Park provides a serene outdoor gallery experience.
MAG hosts rotating special exhibitions, Art After Five evening events with live music and cocktails, family workshops, and one of Rochester's most popular annual events — the MAG Clothesline Festival, a juried outdoor art show held each September. With free admission for University of Rochester students and affordable pricing for the public, MAG makes world-class art accessible to the entire Rochester community.
